The New Testament sets forth two primary teachings, the glory of God and the holiness that God desires for man; get the glory of God right and you get the holiness that God desires for man right. When a person receives these two teachings for what they are, true and life changing, and turns from his/her previous form of life, self-glorifying and man centered, he will live a victorious life.
“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and aliens, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” 1Peter 2:11
The child of God is a person called out of the world, (a place where everyone is a stranger and alien to God), to become an alien and stranger to the world. Furthermore, we are urged to abstain from fleshly lusts that wage war against our souls.
To abstain from these persistent and powerful lusts it will take a faith grounded in biblical truth and sound doctrinal teaching.
