“And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” Revelation 6:15-17
One of the most frightening verses in the bible is in the book of Revelation, where we read the phrase, ‘the wrath of the Lamb.’ We can understand the wrath of the Almighty who must be just and thereby carry out a righteous verdict upon all evil, but how do we reconcile ‘the wrath of the Lamb?’
Jesus as the Lamb of God said, “And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world” John 12:47. During Jesus first visit to earth, his statement is completely accurate because He came as God’s living sacrifice for sin. However, the day is yet to come when all the Lamb’s patience will be gone, the period of His forbearance over, and the time for justice will have come in full.
Until that time all Christians should seek diligently to share the gospel, accurately, boldly, and in love. People need to hear the whole truth, concerning the Holy Spirit Jesus said, “And when he (the Holy Spirit) comes he will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation” John 16:8. Since we are to be filled with Him can we do any less?
