“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders ; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Men and women “fall in love,” marry, have children, and battle hardships through sickness, war, poverty, and death. Heroism in war, strides in science, industry, and government have marked the advancement of modern civilization.
Amid such sacrificial giving men find it very difficult to accept that humanity is not basically good but in fact evil in the sight of God. The reason for this enormous discrepancy between what God and men think is the issue of human independence, which is produced by pride, and every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of God.
At this time when we celebrate the birth of our dear savior, we should remember that our peace comes at a very dear price, “…through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross…” Colossians 1:20
Dear Christian let us be mindful of the true nature of our need for peace, and how it is met in none other than the Prince of Peace.
