According to a Gallop pole, judging others is alive and well in America, well, it’s alive, I don’t think it’s doing well at all. There is a God that created all things, He is all wise, holy, just, and loving. The very problem with men is that we naturally do not value the judgments of God, but prefer to take matters into our own hands rather than do what God desires according to His revealed will.
John Calvin, whose understanding of the Bible was extensive and extremely accurate, referred to man as an idol factory. As a race fallen into sin, humanity prefers the judgments of what they think is right over what God has said. How many people have a Bible but have never read it, let alone studied it carefully.
For this reason, when a false prophet appears, the people naturally flock to him because he says what they want to hear. He says, “Let’s go after other gods.” The people respond, “Great.” However, God said to a Israel, a people that He chose, but who were n
ever converted.
“You shall not do at all what we are doing here today, every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes; for you have not as yet come to the resting place and the inheritance which the LORD your God is giving you.” (Deuteronomy 12:8, 9)
Cultural Mores may change and does from generation to generation, and always in a downward trend, but men always do what is right in their own eyes. “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25)
Men know enough to judge others for the wrong they do, but more often than not, men do what is right in their own eyes. The only problem is we are masters of justifying what is wrong and turn it into something right because of our own sinful desires.
I hope my readers know their Bibles well enough to detect a false prophet when they hear one. Unfortunately, I know that the vast majority don’t. “…the gate is wide and the way is Broad that leads to destruction, and many their be that go in that way.” (Matthew 7:13)
