I DON’T LOVE YOU

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, today I saw one. A little girl about five years old walking down the street, following a man and a woman, which I took to be her parents. They stopped at a historic site and sat on a wall. The adults sat together but the child sat much further down the wall, maybe 40 feet. What struck me was the little girl scooting herself further and further away from the two adults, until she could go no further without falling off the wall. She kept starring at them and not with a smile. I don’t know the reason but it just looked like she didn’t want to be near them.

I couldn’t help but think about another kind of distance created by willfully rejecting the very idea that someone else even exists. There are two kinds of God haters in the world: those that say there is no God, and those that make up false gods so they won’t have to deal with the one true God – or so they think. “they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator…” (Romans 1:25). “just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper…” (Romans 1:28)

Men say seeing is believing, and accordingly they only believe in what they can see. What men can’t see is a lot. There is a whole spiritual reality of which men are completely unaware. They use to make gods of wood, iron, and stone, now they make them of ideologies, but in the end they worship demons and don’t even know it. “They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded.” (Deuteronomy 32:17) You don’t dread what does not exist  – at least in your own mind.

For more than a hundred years men have been led to believe, by demons, that God is love – period. In this error they know not that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding…” (Psalm 111:10) Today it is thought that only the very worst men will have to face God’s holy anger. Others believe that none will. However, on that last day, the day of God’s judgment, all men will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and they will be judged according to what He taught and how He lived.

Jesus taught that all false believing religious people would go into eternal punishment, He said, “Then he will say to those on his left (speaking of himself), ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41) Hell was made for the greater of God’s creatures, who are fallen angels or demons. Demons go to hell because they turned away from God and treated Him as though He did not deserve to be worshiped and obeyed. So demons deserve to be punished for their rebellion and pride and men do not. In what universe would that be fair? A universe without the one, true, and holy God.

Do you know the one true and holy God? Do you believe that the one true God created hell, and that on the last day, He will cast all of hell into the lake of fire? (Revelation 20:14) Do you believe that all of God’s word is true? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and that apart from Him no one can be saved from the wrath to come?

“The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.'” (Numbers 14:18)

Do you know the God who forgives those who know His dearly beloved Son? “And this is eternal life, that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3) If you know Him are you sharing Him with others?
