My dear reader, if you have not viewed Kodi Lee on YouTube, you should check out this blind, autistic, singer. The first thing that becomes obvious is how easy it is to misjudge people. Who would think a blind man could play the piano and sing brilliantly when he had trouble answering a question about what he was going to do. Since that first night, he has sung well known and beloved songs and attached his style to them. The response has been phenomenal and rightly so.
On the surface, Kodi has significant disabilities, that make it impossible for him to function like a normal human being. At the same time, he is endowed with gifts and abilities that allow him to excel in the arena of music. If not allowed to play music, he would be uncontrollable because life in his condition would be too overwhelming.
Psychiatrists and doctors can elaborate on the specifics of Kodi’s condition but make no mistake; he was created just this way for a God-ordained purpose. What that purpose is I cannot tell you; however, I can say that it is not for us to sit in judgment of God.
My dear reader, having pointed out Kodi’s strengths and weakness, man’s propensity is to judge out of pride, and mainly what we should never judge. We now arrive at my main point. Everything is not as it seems.
Not one person has a clue concerning the inner workings of another human being. The motives behind other’s words, attitudes, and actions are beyond our purview. I just left the biological and mental part of a man’s being and went to the area about which none of us have a clue. We can observe fruit through behavior. However, that is not the same as seeing the inner workings of the human heart. We are told in 1 Samuel 16:7,
“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
We cannot judge the heart of another, but that does not mean we are not under judgment by the One that can. God sees all things; He has the hairs on your head numbered, as for the stars in the sky that are like the sand of the sea for quantity, He has them named. You think He doesn’t know the inner workings of your heart.
My dear reader, one day we will all stand before the God that made all things, and on that day He will judge us according to what we have done with His Son. I can’t judge anyone’s heart, but I know God’s word, and He has concluded all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. If you want to live forever, repent, and believe. Believe Him when He says, you are not good enough for eternal life apart from the substitutionary sacrifice made by His Son. Think you can judge your own heart better than the God who knows all things? If you do, you better think again.
