In my previous blog I spoke of our need, as the true Church, to be of the same mind with our brothers in Christ. So then, what steps can be taken that will help to bring us together, in light of this present political climate.
First, we must begin by controlling our tongue. Railing accusations against anyone in the body of Christ are strictly forbidden according to the Paul under the inspiration of God. (Ephesians 4:31)
I will not tell people, just don’t be upset, but rather follow the Apostle Paul’s example.
“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:30-32
Second, instead of striking out with words, let us look up to Him who is our hope. We should never use words as a way to express our distress, but rather understand in the economy of God, trials are meant to work for our benefit.
“Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10.
I understand that many feel vulnerable at this present moment, but for the one that stands on God’s promises there is no vulnerability.
Third, we must understand that we can only come together and be of the same mind when, we meet at the cross where we first saw the light, submitted ourselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and thereby loved Him, and one another by extension.
WHAT ALL TRUE CHRISTIANS SHOULD AGREE ON
Two kinds of people inhabit the earth – the saved and the unsaved, those who receive Christ and those who reject Him. (1 Corinthians 6:10, 11)
The Christian is called and chosen to come out of the world and be separate. (2 Corinthians 6:17)
The Christian is the light of the world and the rest remain in darkness. (Ephesians 5:8)
The Christian is admonished to walk in the light (Ephesians 5:8)
The Christian’s strength is not in human institutions but in Christ. (Romans 15:13)
The Christian is to live in the love of Christ and no longer consider himself a part of this present evil system. (Ephesians 2:1-9)
The Christian is to live with full knowledge that this present world is passing away, therefore he is to be free from a bondage to it. (1 Corinthians 7:29-32)
The Christian has been saved by grace, he was once a slave in this present world, therefore, he is to be kind to those who remain slaves. It is vitally important that the Christian live in an empathetic way toward those who are still slaves to this present world system. (Ephesians 2:8, 9; 1 Peter 2:18; Deuteronomy 24:22)
The Christian respects God’s desire for His people to be one in mind and heart. (John 17:21 – 23; Philippians 2:1-4)
The Christian respects and honors Christ because of His sufferings. (2 Corinthians 1:5, 6; 1 Peter 4:13; Philippians 3:10; Romans 8:17) Something the world never does.
The Christian then should never be divided from his brothers in Christ because of an unbiblical union with the world.
