GIVE THANKS ETERNALLY

To give thanks properly it must come from the heart and climax in the glory of God. It is an act of gratitude that focuses on the eternal creator. The person who gives thanks properly lives in a state of thanksgiving, not just when the circumstances are good, but all the time, even during times trouble. That is why the Apostle could say, ‘whatever you do.”

“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:16, 17)

Only those that have been redeemed by the blood and sufferings of the Lamb of God can give true thanksgiving, because only they have the right reason to do so. Whatever good may happen to a person in this life it will surely come to an end. Thanksgiving, therefore, is short lived except for those that are tied to the eternal God.

The day is coming when according to (Revelations 11:16-18) the Lord God

Almighty, the One who is and who was, will begin to reign. He will begin to reign in the sense that the time had come when His final judgments are carried out upon those those who destroy the earth, and for good upon all His prophets and saints, and those who fear His name. We are told that the twenty-four elders fell on their faces and worshiped God. The continual state of prophets, saints, and those who fear God is worship. They do not worship idols and things made by God but God Himself.

We are told in Psalm 106 and verse 1,  “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His loving kindness is everlasting.” In this present world men use the word forever all the time but it is without meaning, and obviously without contemplating man’s inability in his present state to continue forever. We can say, I’ll love you forever but we cannot make it happen. We cannot live forever by our own power, only God is eternal and only in His hands is the power of eternity.

I thank God and give him all the praise for being willing and able to carry out all that He has promised in His word. Happy Thanksgiving!
