FAITH’S JOURNEY

Just a couple of weeks before Christmas it became known that a third of my salary is

going to be cut next August. This is not good news when you are struggling to make ends meet at your current income. For those who walk according to the course of this present world, life is without hope from a caring and loving heavenly Father. Instead, there are only the tools of self attainment, know how, people who help, luck, the law of probability, and Murphy’s law.

The course of this present world is a course without God, which is the end result of pride and self-reliance. Hence, we read in Ephesians 2:1 & 2a, “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world…”

For the Christian, life is about what God wants, the love He shares, the grace He bestows, and how He provides. The easiest thing in the world to do is blame God for everything that goes wrong, and then accuse Him for not being loving, because life does not turn out exactly the way we want.

VICTORY IS ALL ABOUT THE CORRECT PERSPECTIVE

The way that I know God loves me, even though the floor has been pulled out from under me, is due to the fact that the Son of God was crucified on my behalf

two-thousand years ago. Helping me with the circumstances of my life is child’s play compared to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Surely, there will be a temptation to doubt God’s provision in the coming months, but God has already fulfilled the greatest promise of all. God is faithful.

At about 2,100 years before the birth of Christ, God promised Abraham that he would become a great nation, that would bring blessings upon many nations. Some years after the promise to Abraham, God asked him to sacrifice the son through whom would come the blessing. Abraham did not have to go through with the sacrifice, even though he proved himself to be willing. Instead God provided a ram, which was a picture of the greater sacrifice yet to come – Jesus Christ. “And Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14

2,000 years ago God fulfilled His promise to Abraham, for His own name sake, when, on that very mount that Abraham was to offer his son, God offered His beloved and eternal Son. Therefore, I have no reason to doubt God’s love, not for my job, mortgage, wisdom future plans, or anything.

Merry Christmas! God was born a man, lived a sinless life, crucified for the sins of others, and risen to newness of life.
