DON’T LET THE BEST IN LIFE PASS YOU BY

What is the best that life can offer? For such a question, one would have to go to the best for the answer. The best is the creator God; apart from Him, nothing came into being that came into being. Apart from Him, nothing can continue to exist. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present, and eternal. He has always been.

Furthermore, true worship is for those who know in an intimate and personal way, the one that is known as the I AM THAT I AM. God is self-existent, dependent upon nothing and no one. He is the only reasonable explanation for the existence of all things, whether they be spiritual or material. He is the only God and the source of incomprehensible miracles – such as something from nothing. Are you on your knees yet, at least in your heart? No, then these statements are merely academic, and you have not internalized them to worship the one true God.

When God decided to make Himself known, He sent forth His Son, born of a virgin, born under the law. Man is condemned under the law because it tells us what we are, what evils we devise in our heart, and how we fall short of God’s purpose for our lives. My dear readers think beyond yourselves, to the best that life has to give. Jesus said it this way, “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:15)

The only position that is fitting for God is that of the master. No created being is more significant than God. It is sinfulness that would consider such an implausible option, like evolution or a false god. Therefore, from this position of arrogance and pride, God calls men to Himself. In His calling, He imparts His grace (undeserved love) and friendship (intimate knowledge). A slave does not know his master’s mind, but a friend knows.

The best that life has to give is life itself – the eternal life and source of all that is good, and holy, and true. God is eternal life. The best that life can give is God. God gives Himself to man.

My dear reader, are you seeking Him? Is prayer the best part of your day? Do you long for alone time with God, your creator, savior, and friend? Do you know God in that friendly and personal way? “But from there, you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 4:29)

The first men to follow God through the Lord Jesus Christ set their priorities well. “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4) To devote in the original language is defined, “to attend constantly,” It holds the idea of showing strength which prevails in spite of difficulties. Furthermore, it is to stay in a fixed direction. The person who loves God searches for Him and does not take Him for granted. My dear reader, I hope that is the state of your soul today.
